Release of Information Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the country’s major telecom and ICT services provider, reported a remarkable 7.3 percent increase in revenues, thanks to a strong commercial strategy that has solidified the company’s market position.
At its Board of Directors meeting on October 18, 2021, the firm published its financial results for the nine months ending September 30, 2021.

The PTCL Consumer Business division continued to increase for the fifth consecutive quarter. The company’s Fixed Broadband division expanded by 12.7 percent year over year in the first nine months of 2021, while the PTCL IPTV segment grew by 13.5 percent. The pioneering PTCL Flash Fiber, Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) service rose by 57.5 percent, while the PTCL Charji /Wireless Broadband Segment expanded by 17.8 percent in the broadband industry. Due to declining voice traffic and ongoing customer conversion to OTT services, voice income has decreased.
Sustained Growth in the Business Services Sector
In the IP Bandwidth, Cloud, Data Center, and other ICT services categories, the business services segment maintained its market leadership. When compared to the same time last year, PTCL’s Corporate business expanded by 12.9 percent, while the Carrier and Wholesale business continued to grow at a pace of 10.3 percent. International voice income, like domestic voice revenue, has been falling.

Ufone: The Beginning of a New Era (PTML)
In the wireless portfolio, PTML (Ufone) won an additional 9 MHz of 4G spectrum in the 1800 MHz band in the NGMS spectrum auction in September 2021, demonstrating its commitment to providing improved customer experiences via quality services throughout Pakistan. In addition to delivering new goods and services, the extra spectrum will address the growing demand for cellular data products among Pakistani customers.
Ufone plans to thoroughly update its network and expand its coverage throughout Pakistan after the purchase of the 4G spectrum. The upgrade and modernisation of the network has already begun to pay off, with a major increase in the data user experience for consumers.
Ufone has renewed and purchased extra spectrum in Azad Jammu and Kashmir/Gilgit Baltistan to boost its present service, in addition to 4G spectrum in Pakistan. It has renewed its commitment to provide high-quality data services to the people of Pakistan and AJK/GB as a result of this.
UBank
By boosting its advanced portfolio and treasury investments, UBank, PTCL’s microfinance and branchless banking affiliate, maintained its development trajectory and generated a 23 percent increase in income over the same time last year. By leveraging its deposit and corporate finance arms, the bank increased its financing book to PKR 70 billion, which is in keeping with the bank’s goal of maintaining its excellent liquidity position. The bank’s major strategic efforts include foraying into the low-cost housing, international remittance, and Islamic banking sectors. The bank intends to invest in technology in order to take advantage of the digital banking prospects available.

In partnership with schools, orphanages, and charitable groups, PTCL Razakaar, the company’s employee volunteer force, organized open-air picnics for over a thousand children in 17 sites around Pakistan.
